Coming from a country that is highly conservative and with a family that is as conservative, it is hard to voice opposing opinions about religion, politics, and sexual orientation. But I have told my kids that it does not matter what their opinion may be, the important thing is they don’t shove their ideals on other people, and that they strive to grow up to be good people.
I am proud of what my children have become and I love them no matter what their choices may be. Some of these choices, I may not agree. Some I may need to steer them to make better decisions. Some, I accept fully without a shadow of a doubt.
I wrote this piece for my daughter who casually came out as bisexual to me. Peers have told me she may be exploring and that it may change in time implying that I need not worry. I am not worried, I know she has the kindest heart, the biggest of opinions, and the world to explore and she will be fine however way she lives it.
