impact

I hit 3 birds with one stone today. I went somewhere where BTS made big strides in their influence and career, I admired the architecture of greats I looked up to, and I allowed myself to dream again. I have not felt this giddy since the BTS Permission to Dance concerts in Las Vegas.

Ever since I got involved in social good projects, I have secretly dreamt of working for the United Nations and the universe conspired today to show me a glimpse of my dream. I got to tour the halls where the magic happens, and where BTS made a huge statement about their impact as artists, as humans, and as a group to the world.

Let me start with the building - entering the building felt like entering the mind of great architects. Harrison, Niemeyer, and Le Corbusier comprised the design team of this building where history would happen time and again. It sits right beside the Hudson River, right across from Steven Holl’s Queens Public Library. It almost feels like the architect themselves complimenting each other.

Truth be told the moment I got to the entrance I completely forgot about the architects and just let the excitement of my dream and the knowledge of BTS standing on the same ground I was on wash over me. HAHA

Dreams. It’s just a dream. Something I have not really thought about chasing. Some dreams are meant to be chased, some are just meant to be just that. I want to do work that impacts the world, and I am mighty proud that BTS is able to do this. I have long given up leaving a huge impact on this world. I have settled to do the best I can with the small influence that I have. But I dance between that and doing great things every once in a while. Being in the General Assembly hall made me feel like my voice is big enough for these halls. Who knows? Maybe I will have something worthwhile to say in the future.

Who would think a group of boys from Korea would actually be the face of SELF LOVE and SELF WORTH and that they would dance and sing in the United Nations General Assembly halls and grounds too. Such a huge feat for a group of kids who just started dreaming.

Honesty, vulnerability, good intentions, hard work, and a bit of luck brought them where they are. A small dream turned into a huge IMPACT. Now that makes dreaming worth something.
